The first time mdb runs, it prompts for a directory to scan for media files. All mp3 and ogg format files in the directory you select and all subdirectories are added to the database. A one line window appears with the directory currently being scanned. You can abort the scan by closing this window. This window is updated at most every two seconds. About every 200 hundred tracks the library is updated with tracks that have been scanned.
To scan for new files at any time select File-->scan for media files. All tracks scanned (that are not duplicate files) will be added to both the library and the displayed playlist (if different from the library).
Importing a playlist can add tracks to the library. This is similar to scanning a directory, but the library is not updated until the import is finished.
Dragging and dropping a directory into the main window will similarly scan the directory for media files. You can also drag and drop playlists and media files into mdb. You can combine multiple instances of all drag sources in a single operation.
Adding a single track
Removing inaccessible tracks
Deleting database entries
To add a single track to the library and displayed playlist drag and drop into the playlist. Alternatively select File-->new file to list. You will be prompted to select a media file.
To remove tracks that have been deleted or for some other reason are no longer accessible, select File-->clear inaccessible. You will be prompted to make sure you want to do this. This may take some time depending on the size of your data base and the file access time.
To delete database entries select library from the playlist window and then select the tracks to be deleted in the tracks window. Right click on one of these and select delete from the popup menu. You will be informed that tracks deleted from the library are removed from all playlists and prompted to confirm the delete.
