mdb source and various executable packages are available at www.mtnmath.com/mdb. Most of the linking was done with static libraries to minimize compatibility problems in installing the executables.
mdb saves its state in a directory it usually creates. The defaults should work fine for most users. To change it see the section on Saving state ...
